The English Language Centre is a part of the University of Lodz, providing English language courses for employees, students and graduates of the University of Lodz, as well as for people not connected to the University.
The English Language Centre is also an authorised British Council examination centre in Łódź, which administers English language, university and professional exams.

New course! Conversation classes for kids and teens with a Native Speaker

Changes in ELC office hours
From 25 August 2025, the ELC office will be open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 to 18:30 and on Fridays from 9:00 to 16:00.

Who are we?
The English Language Centre is a language school located in Łódź, that has been operating successfully since 1990. We offer English courses for all who wish to communicate more proficiently in English or plan to take the Cambridge English Qualifications exams. With us learners can prepare for A2 Key, A2 Key for Schools, B1 Preliminary, B1 Preliminary for Schools, B2 First, B2 First for Schools, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency, IELTS, as well as the increasingly popular language tests for young learners - Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers.
A good knowledge of English helps people to communicate freely while traveling around the world, establish close relationships, work in a multicultural environment, seek employment and study in English-speaking countries. It is not only schoolchildren and university students who decide to enrol for English language courses and take internationally recognised language exams. It is also adults wishing to improve their language skills and advance their qualifications.
Located in the very centre of Łódź, just 500 metres from the Łódź Fabryczna train station, the ELC prides itself on its experienced teachers who constantly improve their skills and professional qualifications by participating in methodology workshops and by developing and diversifying their teaching techniques. Their professional commitment and high-quality methods are appreciated by thousands of satisfied customers who have obtained the internationally accepted Cambridge English language certificates.
Our courses
At the English Language Centre, we run English language courses for all levels, from beginner (A1) to full language proficiency (C2), including exam courses, conversation classes and courses for kids. We offer preferential prices for employees of the University of Lodz and special discounts for their family members, as well as discounts for students and graduates of the University of Lodz and students of the University of Lodz high school, family discounts, discounts for holders of the Łódź Citizen Card and other advantages. Proofreading
The English Language Center offers professional proofreading services carried out by native speakers of English (including British English and American English) for scholarly articles, research papers, and other scientific texts.
Rates for University of Lodz units (on an internal invoice): from PLN 40* per page**.
We add 23% VAT to any external invoices.
*The final quote depends on the text's degree of specialization and the requested completion deadline (standard proofreading - up to 5 pages** per business day; fast proofreading - 6-10 pages** per business day; express proofreading - more than ten pages** per business day).

The English Language Centre is an authorised British Council examination centre in Łódź. We are a centre authorised by Cambridge English. Cambridge English helps millions of people learn English and prove their skills to the world.
Our centre has been administering language, university and professional exams for over 20 years.
